Help with hard-to-treat musculoskeletal problems using Winback & Shockwave Edinburgh

Some problems just don’t respond as quickly and fully to traditional methods. Cutting edge technologies that help to stimulate natural healing processes in tendons and muscles can deal with hard-to-treat problems including plantar fasciitis and other tendinopathy as well as other issues.

Tackle hard-to-treat problems. Use technology to support natural healing processes.

We are proud to be one of the few physiotherapy providers in Scotland who use Winback as well as the more popular Shockwave technology to get the best results for our patients.

What is Winback?

Winback is a proprietary name for a Tecar Therapy application. “Tecar” refers to a high frequency current oscillating between 300 kHz and 1 MHz that is applied while the physiotherapist delivers various forms of manual treatment. The application of the current stimulates tissue regeneration and helps to reduce pain.

What are the benefits of Tecar (Winback) technology?

It promotes much faster functional recovery, noticeable even after a few treatments only.

Does it hurt?

No, just the opposite. The current is low-intensity and is painless and relaxing. You are in fact more likely to feel like physical activity after a Winback session than before.

Why have I not heard of this form of therapy before?

Winback is an advanced technique that is rarely used by physiotherapists in Scotland (or the UK as a whole) and we are really proud to offer our patients the opportunity to benefit from this cutting-edge, effective technology.

What problems is Winback most useful in?

Tecar technology is particularly well suited to treating muscle, joint and lymphatic system problems, including trauma recovery as well as chronic conditions. It helps to deal with inflammation and promotes faster return or taking up of physical activity.

Is this the same thing as Shockwave?

No. Winback uses Tecar Energy, which is a low intensity electrical current. Shockwave devices use a high-energy acoustic wave. It also facilitates  regeneration of bones, tendons and other soft tissues, but the mechanism of action is very different, and the treatment feels different too.

I have been working out in the gym and for a long time I had a problem with a painful elbow especially after a chest and triceps day. After one treatment of Shockwave I felt a big difference, like I had a new elbow. Thank you, Sebastian.
